Hiring Range:
$41,655 - $48,000 – Depends on Qualifications.
 
Position Description:
Paul D. Camp Community College (PDCCC) is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well.
 
The Out of School Youth Development Specialist will be responsible for establishing a rapport with youth ages 16-21 years old that is conducive to helping participants receive career exploration, career immersion, graduate from high school on-time, workforce/post-secondary education preparation and summer activities; act as a positive role model for participants and model professional and ethical standards; work in a collegial and collaborative manner with peers, Regional Workforce Development staff, local high school personnel and the community at large to promote and support the mission and goals of Fast Forward ISY/OSY Youth Programs and abide by all Camp Community College’s policies and procedures.

This is a full-time restricted classified position. Continuation of employment is based on funding availability.

Requirements: 
Extensive experience in social work, counseling, human services, psychology and/or any equivalent combination of training and/or experience. Ability to recruit and market programs to youth. Ability to establish a collaborative, innovative learning environment that encourages participants to develop positive self-esteem and personal and social responsibility. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Experience in case management, determining program eligibility, maintaining accurate and confidential records. Ability to interpret and apply policy and procedures to a variety of processes. Ability to recognize multicultural perspectives and emphasize the value of cultural diversity. Knowledge of local and state support services and agencies. Experience planning activities and events, including ordering supplies and arranging transportation. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a diverse public.
 
Additional Considerations:
Background in working with alternative and at-risk youth in an education setting.
