Position Description:
Paul D. Camp Community College (PDCCC) is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well.
 
EMS faculty must provide instruction, support, advice, assessment, and mentorship to Camp Community College’s students. Faculty are required to participate in the mission and community of the college entirely. The primary emphasis shall be on teaching by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and through distance learning. Faculty will also perform related activities to help the students develop their interests and abilities to the fullest capacity to successful program completion, certification, and employment in the field of EMS.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. Current certification as a Virginia EMS Education Coordinator. No citations, suspensions or revocations issued by the Office of Emergency Medical Services of Virginia or National Registry (Past 5 years). Two years of related, full-time occupational experience or equivalent. Current National Registry certification at Paramedic level or Virginia certification at Paramedic Level. Knowledge about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Standards, and about evidenced-informed clinical practice. Can demonstrate a passion for the discipline of Emergency Medical Services and a commitment/belief that a diverse group of students from various backgrounds and ages, including adult learners, can learn this discipline, thus fulfilling the College’s mission to provide accessible, quality higher education, workforce training, and community development in our service region, while supporting success for a diverse student population, and fulfilling the needs of our employers. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills appropriate for students, colleagues, staff, and administrator interactions as an individual or as a part of a team. Willingness to adopt an organized plan of instruction and use methods to fairly measure student progress toward student learning outcomes. Must be able to work at Suffolk, Franklin, and Smithfield locations.
 
Additional Considerations:
Teaching experience with online, hybrid, and/or traditional face-to-face classroom modalities in a higher education setting. Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) with the ability to use technology to enhance teaching and educational experience. Demonstrated ability to measure, assess and align student outcomes within courses or programs.
